ABLS will celebrate Avalokitesvara (Guanyin) Bodhisattva’s Birthday on March 5th, 2023 (Sunday). Starting at 9 AM, there will be Liturgy of Guanyin Bodhisattva, with the assembly chanting the Avalokiteshvara Mantra (incantation), Heart Sutra, Universal Gate Sutra, and making light offerings. The Food Offering Ceremony will be conducted at noon. Starting again at 1:30 PM, participants will chant the Cundī Sutra, Cundī Mantra, followed by Eighty-Eight Buddha Repentance, and Meng Shan Food Bestowal Ceremony.
ABLS has opened the Buddha Hall on Sundays. Please make an appointment to participate inside. The Food Offering Ceremony should still be joined outside because of the high volume of visitors. Lunch is not offered during the pandemic. On Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, the inside of Buddha Hall will open 10:00 – 15:00. The courtyard outside of Buddha Hall will open 10:00 – 15:00 Tuesday to Saturday.

“Spring Avatamsaka Sutra Chanting Dharma Service for Ching Ming”
Ching Ming (Tomb-Sweeping Day) is a traditional Chinese Memorial Day to commemorate the deceased family members and friends. Accordingly, ABLS will hold the “Spring Avatamsaka Sutra Chanting Dharma Service for Ching Ming”. In response to the pandemic of COVID-19 and its variants, and to prevent the transmission of the virus among religious communities, the 2023 Ching Ming Dharma Service has been changed to a One-Month Intensive Practice, starting from 3/12/2023 to 4/9/2023 (on the last day of 4/9/2023: Dedication of Merits & Burning Name Plates). On May 21st, 2023 (Sunday), ABLS will host a gathering to celebrate Shakyamuni Buddha’s birthday. Starting at 9 AM, there will be the Shurangama Mantra (incantation) Chanting & Liturgy of Shakyamuni Buddha. The Food Offering Ceremony will be conducted at noon. Starting again at 1:30 PM, the assembly will chant the Aspiration of Bodhisattva Samantabhadra and Avatamsaka Syllabary. For evening recitation, there will be Eighty-Eight Buddha Repentance, Meng Shan Food Bestowal Ceremony (Food for the passed away) and dedication of merits to all.
