Avalokiteshvara (Guanyin) Bodhisattva’s Birthday Celebration Dharma Service
ABLS will celebrate Avalokiteshvara (Guan Yin) Bodhisattva’s Birthday on March 24th, 2019 (Sunday). Starting at 9 AM, there will be Buddha honoring service, followed by the assembly chanting the Avalokiteshvara Mantra (incantation), the Heart Sutra and the Universal Gate Sutra. Then Abbess Tian Cheng will introduce the doctrine and practice of Avalokiteshvara. Food offering for blessings will be conducted at noon. Starting again at 1:30 PM, participants will chant the Cundī Sutra and Cundī Mantra. For the evening session, there will be Eighty-Eight Buddha Repentance and Meng Shan Food Bestowal Ceremony.
All are invited to pray for Guan Yin’s blessings, and the merits will be dedicated to all attendees for happiness and wisdom.
Spring Avatamsaka Sutra Chanting Dharma Service for Ching Ming
Ching Ming (Tomb-Sweeping Day) is a traditional Chinese Memorial Day to commemorate the deceased family members and friends. Accordingly, ABLS will hold a memorial event led by Abbess Tian Cheng. The event will start at 9 AM on March 31st, 2019 (Sunday).
Then from April 1st (Monday) to 6th (Saturday), participants will chant the Avatamsaka Sutra and Avatamsaka Syllabary starting at 8:30 AM every day, and Abbess Tian Cheng will lecture on the essentials of the sutra after the chanting session.
On the last day of April 7th (Sunday), the assembly will chant the Practice & Voes of Bodhisattva Samantabhadra starting at 8:30 AM, then join the Eighty-Eight Buddha Repentance & Liturgy of Medicine Buddha for blessings. In the afternoon starting at 2 PM, Amitabha Buddha Thrice Yearning and ChantingService will be conducted to benefit both the living and the deceased.
On May 12th, 2019 (Sunday), ABLS will host a gathering to celebrate Shakyamuni Buddha’s birthday. Starting at 9 AM, the Shurangama Mantra (incantation) Chanting & Liturgy of Shakyamuni Buddha will be conducted, followed by a Dharma talk on Buddha’s enlightenment given by Abbess Tian Cheng. Food offering for blessing and vegetarian lunch will be at noon. At 1:30 PM, the assembly will chant the Practice & Voes of Bodhisattva Samantabhadra and Avatamsaka Syllabary. For evening recitation, there will be Eighty-Eight Buddha Repentance, Meng Shan Food Bestowal Ceremony, and dedication of merits to all.
